Dimitri Alvarez, MD, FAAFP
Dimitri Alvarez, MD, FAAFP is a board-certified physician in Family Medicine. He practices at Highland Medical, P.C., Family Practice Associates of Rockland in Valley Cottage, NY.
Dr. Alvarez received his medical doctorate from the Universite d’Etat d’Haiti (State University of Haiti) in Port-au- Prince, Haiti. He is a graduate of the Institute for Family Health’s Mid-Hudson Family Practice Residency. He received the Resident Teacher Award from the Society of Teachers of Family Medicine in recognition of his commitment to Family Medicine education. Prior to joining Highland Medical, P.C., he delivered full-scope primary care to the Harlem community for nine years where he played an instrumental role in the implementation of the Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH) model of care. He served as the Medical Director of the Family Health Center of Harlem for five years, where he led multiple Continuous Quality Improvement projects. Dr. Alvarez was one of the first core Faculty members for the Harlem Residency in Family Medicine where he was also an Advisor to the residents. He served as an Assistant Professor at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in the Department of Family Medicine and Community Health.
His contribution to the specialty earned him the degree of Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians (FAAFP). He has a strong interest in sports medicine and health system.
He is fluent in French, Creole and proficient in Spanish.
Richard W. King, MD
Dr. King has been caring for patients of all ages, from newborns to geriatric patients at Family Practice Associates of Rockland since 1985. He has been the Director of Family Practice at Montefiore Nyack Hospital since 2001.
Dr. King earned his medical doctorate from the University of Arkansas College of Medicine. He completed his Family Practice Residency at University Hospital, University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, and Nassau County Medical Center.
He has held numerous positions during his 30 years on the medical staff of Montefiore Nyack Hospital. He has been on many committees, often serving as chairman, including Chairman of the Medical Executive Committee. He is also past president of the Medical Staff.
Dr. King served in Iraq with the Second Marine Expeditionary Brigade, United States Marine Corps, during combat operations with the initial invasion force in 2003. He earned multiple decorations including the Combat Action Ribbon, the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal with the Marine Corps Combat Device, and a Marine Corps Commendation Medical for actions under fire.
He has earned numerous community service awards as well, including the Helen Hayes Hospital Humanitarian of the Year, based on his work in Iraq. Currently, Dr. King serves on several boards including as Police Surgeon for the Rockland County Police Benevolent Association and Chairman of the BioChem/Terrorism Response Committee at Montefiore Nyack Hospital. Dr. King is a certified scuba diver and a licensed private pilot. He is a lifelong Rockland County resident and spends his free time with his grandchildren, woodworking, and biking.
